Happy 2015, CMS readers! I hope everyone had a lovely holiday and had plenty of time to read. My holiday was fairly busy so I was only able to finish Amulet 4, The Last Council, by Kazu Kibuishi and start The Story of Owen, Dragon Slayer of Trondheim, by E. K. Johnston. The Amulet series is a terrific series of graphic novels following the adventures of Emily and her family and what happens to them when Emily finds her grandfathers amulet and discovers that she is a stonekeeper.
I'm barely into The Story of Owen but I love it already. The premise is that dragons are real and exist now during modern times. They are attracted to carbon emissions so they often attack large cities, especially oil producing cities. The oil companies have therefore contracted with dragonslayers to protect the cities and their assets. Of course, dragonslayers must have a bard and the story of Owen is told by his bard who also tutors him in algebra. I can't wait to see where this goes.
In the meantime, we have new books in the library. I got a great deal on some backlisted books, which means they aren't brand new titles but they are new in our library. Come in check them out!
